Who Are we?

Ashford-Hair-Hare Family Reunions are held biennially, usually in August and rotate between cities, including Hartford CT, Columbia SC, and Charlotte NC, as well as Baltimore MD. The last family reunion was held in Charleston SC in August 2023. The next reunion will be held in National Harbor MD in the summer of 2025.

Family reunions create memorable events and are beneficial in many ways, such as:

• Helping us reconnect with long-lost cousins, aunts, uncles or anyone who may not have kept in touch with family over the years.
• Providing a venue to find out about family members we did not know we even had, such as distant cousins or younger family members.
• Providing a means for younger family members to learn about their lineage, hear personal stories, and have a sense of pride in their heritage.

We R Family is the Baltimore MD area constituency of the Ashford-Hair/Hare Family Reunion. The We R Family Baltimore Committee acts as a non-profit entity with the goals of:

• Supporting travel from Baltimore MD to family reunions held in other states;
• Organizing and preparing to host the Baltimore MD area reunion; and
• Offsetting expenses for those who will participate in the Baltimore MD reunion.

The Committee maintains a treasury by raising funds on an ongoing basis by paying dues and hosting fundraisers, such as bus trips and candy sales. The Committee usually meets every 1 to 3 months, depending on the agenda and upcoming activities. All meetings are held at the homes of Committee members.
The Committee is always looking to include and fellowship with more family members and provide a means for members to keep in touch with one another. This is especially vital since our family is large and is spread across the country. Most importantly, connecting the younger generation to their past helps them form a positive identity about who they are and where they come from.
